The wind howled across the Great Ice Sheet, carrying with it the scent of ozone and old blood. A lone warrior, clad in furs and powered armor that hummed against the freezing air, paused atop a ridge of jagged blue ice. Below, the shadows lengthened as the twin suns dipped toward the horizon, casting long, distorted shapes across the snow. He could feel them before he saw them—the Great Wolves, ancient predators with fur like steel wire and eyes burning with primal malice. They did not fear the cold; they were born of it. The warrior gripped his power axe, the rune-carved haft warm against his gauntlet. 'Come then,' he whispered to the gathering dark, his breath pluming in white clouds. 'Let us see if your teeth are sharper than our will.'
