In theory, this network allowed for instantaneous travel between any two points in the galaxy without the risks associated with standard Warp navigation. To operate it, the Imperium needed to locate ancient gateways, often hidden on ruined worlds or deep within space stations, and use powerful psykers to hold them open against the natural entropy of the Warp.
